「ZAN」は、沖縄語で人魚の意。雅楽の東儀秀樹、二胡の姜建華、アフリカ出身のギタリスト・ママドゥ・ドゥンビア、鼓童の金子竜太郎・内藤哲郎と多彩なゲストプレイヤーが参加。一部をダブリンでレコーディングし、3人のアイリッシュ・ミュージシャンが華を添える。トラックダウンはニューヨーク。
国内外の個性派ミュージシャンとのコラボレーションで、「沖縄」にとどまらない上原の豊かな魅力がひろがっていく、スケール感のある作品。
